PERSONALITY: If one were to describe Uchiha Madara as arrogant, they would be making the understatement of the age. Prideful, confident, charismatic--all these can describe the man to a T. Madara is extremely intelligent and talented, and he knows it. He has overcome any obstacles in his path with little effort, and foresees nothing that will stop him now. He has a mind that is able to take any disadvantage and turn it to his advantage, no matter how dire it may seem to whatever cause he's on about at the moment. This same mind can turn on its foes in an instant; even if you're allied with Madara, don't trust him, because no doubt he's already thought of how to best bring you down. Madara will succeed, no matter what his detractors say. And if he doesn't at first, he will slide back, regroup, and come back stronger than ever with more people on his side to back him up. He is not afraid to take extreme measures, for the ends justify the means.

Madara is an expert at telling people what they want to hear; while this doesn't necessarily gain him friends, it certainly gains him people who he can subsequently use to whatever end he's devised for them. He is a charming man, educated and well-read, and terribly patient when it behooves him. Madara is perceptive as well, and often uses this intuition to choose those who will be useful to him in the future. This natural ability to lead, coupled with his sharp wit, flexibility, and inquisitive and colluding mind, make him a formidable opponent on any field. Like most who have become used to holding the reins of power, when things do not go his way or instructions are not followed, he can fly into a rage quickly.

He's not the man a good girl or boy ought to be with if they want monogamy, because Madara doesn't see the point. Life is short, why waste it with one person? He genuinely likes few and trusts even fewer, and to be in either category one must be a truly exceptional person.

HISTORY: Madara was the first child born to his parents, a beautiful baby boy born in the dark hours before a Christmas Eve dawn, who greeted the world without crying. When his umbilical cord was cut, he simply stared around with big, dark eyes, taking in his surroundings. His father and mother were pleased to have a baby boy, a strong first son to start their family. Madara did not disappoint them; he was, developmentally, far ahead of the other children born around the same time. He was lively and precocious, learning to crawl and then to walk, then to speak. Not the broken sentences of most in his age group, but whole phrases. All of it accompanied by a curious, intense stare, as though if you tried to dumb things down for him, he would know, and he would not be as forgiving as his peers later on when the truth was told.

A few years later, when Madara was now in classes with students twice his age, his younger brother Izuna was born. Madara took his duties as older brother seriously, and throughout their childhoods, Madara and Izuna looked after each other and were a brilliant team.

Things seemed idyllic. The Uchihas had their bright scions--the brilliant Madara, tempered by the rational Izuna, seemed destined to catapult the family name into greatness. If Madara seemed a little odd at turns, and if anyone happened to notice the glint of something more than righteous ambition in his eyes, nobody spoke of it. They loved and feared Madara, for the cruel streak that seemed to run hidden in him--not an overt cruelty of the sort that produced children who pulled wings off flies, but a willingness to do whatever it took to achieve his goals. The Uchiha family could overlook this.

And then, when Madara was graduating with a doctorate in engineering and Izuna was getting ready to follow in his brother's footsteps, the unthinkable happened. The realization that this was a finite world, of finite resources, that could not support them all. In the upset that followed this realization and the disorder of the family, Izuna was lost--one of those dead, disappeared, gone. Nobody knew what happened to him.

Madara, amazingly, kept his head amongst the madness. With his family asphyxiating around him, when his own heartbeat would race trying to get needed oxygen to his mind and body, he worked through those fearful days concocting what would be their salvation. A complex machine, using the best and cleanest renewable energy available--the human body. Modified humans, the jinchuuriki, became the things that saved the human race, or at least, the influential elite and those close enough to claw their way to Spirix to taste the air. With the development of the BIJUU equation, a method of turning every metabolic event in the body into energy was created. Madara, preferring to keep his life as private as possible, stayed out of the limelight. It was a distinct change from how he had been growing up--then, he had sought attention and won it through his many accolades. Perhaps the disappearance of his brother, or the desperation inherent in the time, had settled on him.

Or perhaps it was because he simply did not want others to see what he was doing. And, like another later in his line would, Madara vanished--for a time.

In this new society, those who control the oxygen control the world. The economy trades on it as they would have gold, in the days when there was still gold to be mined; the whole city depends on it. It has become an area of speculation, and an area that carries great power. Madara, savior of the more-or-less human race, was determined to stay on top of this new world. He would not be left behind, as so many others had been. One does what one must to remain at the top of the food chain, and Madara had no qualms whatsoever. When it became apparent his usual methods of coercion and blackmail would not work any longer, he turned to darker dealings. Those led to his current status, and his organization's monopoly on oxygen. Ever had Madara done what was necessary to retain his position, and ever would it be so.

As of today, Madara is the CEO of Akatsuki Org. He is an enigma, and little is known of his origins or his role in creating the jinchuuriki. Few people even know he is still alive. And nobody knows that he has had one great failure in his life--the failure to subdue Kyuubi or Shukaku, two entities of immense power. Humans, but something more. But Madara does not dwell often on that subject. After all, nobody likes to think about the bad things in life.
